Hi, neighbors! I'm Jermaine howard, and I'm running for our County Commission in District 1.
Wyandotte, Kansas City is home. For years, I've been working right alongside many of you, tackling challenges and finding solutions block by block. That hands-on community work has shown me what we can achieve together.
I'm running for office because the same deep commitment I’ve shown to our community as a teacher, coach, and organizer needs to be reflected at City Hall. For years, I’ve worked directly with youth, families, and neighbors, inside classrooms, on the field, and through grassroots efforts, to build stronger, more connected communities. These experiences have shown me what’s possible when we center people, not politics, in our decisions. Now, I’m ready to bring that same energy, accountability, and community-first mindset to local leadership. Every decision made at City Hall should reflect the values, needs, and voices of the people it serves.
No Nonsense, Just Results
Take a look at my platform and see if it resonates with you. I’m running on a bold, community-centered vision that includes:
Economic Empowerment through Cooperative Development
Creating local jobs and building generational wealth through community-owned businesses and cooperative economic models that keep dollars circulating right here in WyCo.
Affordable Housing & Homelessness Solutions
Expanding access to affordable, quality housing and investing in housing-first approaches that offer stability and dignity to all residents.
Youth Development & Public Safety
Supporting mentorship, youth programs, and recreational opportunities that reduce crime, develop leadership, and foster a safer, more engaged future for our community.
This campaign is about all of us. Our families, our future, and the kind of Wyandotte County we want to build together. We need your voice, your energy, and your support to make it happen. Whether it’s volunteering, donating, or simply sharing your ideas, there’s a place for you in this movement. Join us, contribute what you can, and let us know what matters most to you and your community. Together, we can create lasting change from the ground up.
We, not me
This campaign is built on the belief that real change happens when we work together. “We, not me” means putting community over ego, collaboration over competition, and shared progress over personal gain. It’s a commitment to collective power and inclusive leadership that always puts people first.
